Dr. Ramon Gao receives the Demetriades - Tsafka - Kokkalis Prize in Nanotechnology or Related Fields

Congratulations to Dr. Ramon Gao on receiving the Demetriades - Tsafka - Kokkalis Prize in Nanotechnology or Related Fields, which is awarded annually to PhD candidates selected for the best Caltech PhD thesis, publication, or discovery in the field of nanotechnology.   Ramon's PhD research explores how lightsail membranes, propelled by laser radiation pressure, could enable fly-by missions to exoplanets within a human lifetime, using multiphysics simulations, nanofabrication, and optomechanical characterization.
