Professor Robert Macfarlane

Prof. MacFarlane was a postdoctoral scholar working jointly with the Atwater lab and the Grubbs lab from 2013-2015. His research focused on developing self-assembly methods to generate polymer- and nanoparticle-based materials with unique photonic and plasmonic properties, taking advantage of the interdisciplinary nature of his post-doctoral appointment in chemistry and materials science to synthesize and characterize these structures. He is now the AMAX Career Development Assistant Professor in Materials Science and Engineering at MIT.
